Note Descr: Arnošt Pátek (†54), a legend of Czechoslovak pop in the 80s, would have celebrated his 69th birthday. At the end of his life, a malignant tumor deprived him of part of his face and visions for a better tomorrow. He made no secret that he was already waiting for death to come. His tragic passing 15 years ago is still shrouded in mystery....
He dreamed of a tiger lady, but also of something new, so he became an entrepreneur in the field of gastronomy in the early 1990s. The music of the multi-talented Arnošt Piaczek, as his real name sounds, continued to accompany him, even when he fell ill with diabetes. However, the real trouble came with cancer.
The cancer deprived him of his future and a piece of himself - he lost an eye, nose, part of his face and neck and half of his teeth. In 2007, he began to recover, but he found that he had nothing to live on: he was receiving a meager disability pension, from which he could not even pay the rent. He was pulled from absolute poverty by his son, his two sisters and former colleague Petr Hannig, who supported him financially and mentally, yet Pátek gradually gave up on life.
Two years later, he was found dead in his apartment. "His girlfriend called him all weekend, but he didn't pick up the phone even though it rang. That's why she called her dad's older sister Eva on Sunday, who went to see him. She found him on the ground. It is said that he had been lying there since Thursday,"he told the newspaper Aha! immediately after his father's death, his son Tomáš.
The body was covered with orange peels, it is believed that he was trying to replenish sugars - Pátka's diabetes rapidly worsened after the cancer, and a hypoglycemic attack is cited as the most likely cause of death.
No public burial the singer did not receive a modest funeral ceremony, his body was cremated without the participation of the family, who only picked up the urn from the crematorium. Friday, unlike other singers, fell into complete oblivion, or rather remained forever at the time of his greatest glory - in the 80s, to the sounds of his greatest hits Juliet and Last Holiday.
