President Andrzej Duda laid a wreath in front of the sarcophagus of Maria and Lech Kaczyński in Wawel. On April 10, 2010, 96 people died in the crash of the Tu-154 plane, which was carrying a delegation to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre, including President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria, the highest military commanders and the last president of the Republic of Poland in exile, Ryszard Kaczorowski.

On the 14th anniversary of the tragedy, the president will take part in numerous ceremonies. In the morning, Andrzej Duda laid a wreath at the sarcophagus of the late. The media note that this is the first anniversary of the Smolensk disaster after the change of government. Newly elected politicians also take part in the celebrations. The Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, and the Speaker of the Senate, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, were present at the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw. The mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, also took part in the celebrations.

Szymon Hołownia asked for a longer moment of silence to honor the memory of those who - as he said - "lost their lives on that day fourteen years ago, and wanted to serve our homeland with their service, life and conduct."
PSL politicians also paid tribute to the victims of the Smolensk disaster. who, led by the head of the PSL-TD club, Krzysztof Paszyk, laid a wreath in the Sejm in front of the plaque commemorating the MPs and senators who died in this disaster.
The US ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski, also honored the memory of the victims. "On the 14th anniversary of the Smolensk disaster, we pay tribute to President Lech Kaczyński and first lady Maria Kaczyńska and 94 Poles - military personnel, parliamentarians, public figures and members of delegations who lost their lives on that tragic day,"wrote the duplomata.
