Official Press of the State of Pará celebrates National Children's Book Day

In celebration of National Children's Book Day, celebrated this Thursday (18), the Official Press of the State of Pará (Ioepa) reinforces its commitment to encouraging reading among young people, through fundraising campaigns of books for children and young people and the publication of works that warm up the literary universe of children in Pará.
Editora Pública Dalcídio Jurandir has stood out for its contribution to children's literature, with the publication of narratives that reflect the cultural and regional diversity of Pará. With engaging stories and captivating illustrations, the books launched by the publisher have the power to awaken the children's imagination and interest in reading.

“When we imagined the formulation of a literary and book policy for the State of Pará, the incentive to literature was thought of by promoting the publication of children's works, encouraging new writers to venture into this universe and also through campaigns of donating books, making the book circulate throughout the four corners of the State and reaching new readers”, said the head of Ioepa, Jorge Panzera.

In addition to the launch of new works, the Official Press also runs the "Knowledge Portal"project, an initiative to collect and donate used books. Through this project, the community is invited to contribute by donating used children's books in good condition, which are carefully packaged and sent to public school libraries and community projects to find their readership: children from underprivileged communities. , public schools and social institutions, expanding access to reading and encouraging the habit from childhood.
However, Panzera highlights that all this work carried out during the year, within the municipality, has a culmination in which one can actually see , the result of projects developed for children.
"Since the creation of Editora Pública Dalcídio Jurandir and the Knowledge Portal, in 2019, we have taken to the Pan-Amazonian Book and Multivozes Fair a program aimed at children, with storytelling and reading mediation, paintings , in addition to the launches of children's book authors published by the Editora, which are an attraction in themselves, showing society the work we are developing with the encouragement of literature and books”, he reinforced.
National Children's Book Day is an opportunity to celebrate not only the importance of reading in the education of children, but also to recognize the fundamental role of Editora Pública Dalcídio Jurandir and the Knowledge Portal in promoting children's literature and stimulating imagination and knowledge among young readers in Pará.
National Children's Book Day was established in honor of the birth of Monteiro Lobato, one of the most important Brazilian writers of children's literature. Monteiro Lobato was born on April 18, 1882 and is known for works such as "O Sítio do Picapau Amarelo"and "Reinações de Narizinho".
The date is celebrated annually on April 18 and represents a moment of reflection on the importance of literature in children's lives, as well as being an opportunity to share stories and experiences that enrich children's universe.
